Privacy policy
Slopless checks images, videos and text on your own computer. It doesn’t send what you browse, read or type to us or anyone else. We don’t run analytics, show ads, or sell or share data. If you subscribe, Stripe handles your payment and we keep your email and license key.
What the extension does on your computer
To decide whether something looks AI-generated, the extension reads the pages you visit: their text, images, image file details (such as AI tags in the file’s metadata), and, while a video plays in the active tab, screenshots of the visible tab cropped to the video. All of this is analyzed by models that run inside the extension on your computer. Screenshots and page content are not saved and are not sent anywhere.
Network requests the extension makes
The extension has no server of its own. It makes these requests, and only these:
- Model download, once. The first time a detection model is needed, the extension downloads the model files (about 390 MB) from Hugging Face and keeps them in your browser. Hugging Face receives a normal web request, including your IP address, as with any download. No information about your browsing is included.
- Images on the page you’re viewing. To check an image, the extension downloads it again from the same address the page loaded it from, without your cookies.
- YouTube. With “YouTube videos about AI” turned on, it asks YouTube for the descriptions of videos listed on the page, without your cookies. On watch pages it reads YouTube’s own page data to find YouTube’s “Altered or synthetic content” label.
- Google Docs. When you open a Google Doc, it downloads that document’s plain text from Google, using your existing Google login, the same way File → Download → Plain text does. The text is checked on your computer and is not stored or sent anywhere else.
What the extension stores
We never receive any of this. Uninstalling the extension deletes it from your computer.
- Your settings, such as the threshold, sites where it’s off, and your own words and channels for hiding YouTube videos. These use Chrome’s synced extension storage: if you have Chrome sync turned on, Google copies them to your other Chrome browsers signed in to the same account, under Google’s privacy policy. Without sync, they stay on this computer.
- Items you marked as “AI” or “Not AI”, so the extension remembers your choice. Stored on this computer only, like everything below.
- Mistake reports. A report includes the page address, the score and reasons, and a short text sample or the image or video address. Reports never leave your computer unless you click Download reports and send the file to someone yourself.
- The downloaded model files, in the extension’s browser cache.
Purchases on this website
If you buy Slopless, monthly or lifetime, you pay on a checkout page run by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. Stripe’s use of your data is covered by the Stripe Privacy Policy.
We store your email address, your license key, your plan, the Stripe IDs for your customer record and your subscription or payment, and whether your license is active. This is stored with our database provider, Supabase. We use it to give you your license key, let you manage or cancel your subscription, and answer support requests. We keep it while your license is active and for as long as needed for tax and accounting records afterward.
The website is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and secure the service.
What we don’t do
- We don’t collect your browsing history, page content, or the results of any check.
- We don’t use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising.
- We don’t sell, rent, or share personal data, and we don’t use it for anything unrelated to Slopless.
Your choices
- Turn off the detection models, individual checks, or the whole extension from its toolbar popup, or turn it off for specific sites.
- Clear your mistake reports with Clear in the popup, or remove everything by uninstalling the extension.
- Ask us to see or delete the purchase data we hold about you by emailing the address below. Deleting it ends your license.
Children
Slopless isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the extension’s store listing.
